From a Pocket Reference Card to a Voice-Powered, Multi-State Evidence Rules Platform
For more than fifteen years, Courtroom Objections has served as a practical trial companion for attorneys who need fast, reliable access to objections and evidence rules at the moment they matter most.

Long before voice search, searchable rule libraries, and multi-state legal reference apps became common, Courtroom Objections began with a simple purpose: to solve a real courtroom problem.
Attorneys — especially newer trial lawyers — needed an immediate, dependable way to recall common objections, understand their legal basis, and respond quickly in court. They did not need a textbook, a binder, or a research platform. They needed a focused tool they could use at counsel table, in the hallway, or during trial preparation.
In 2010, the App Store was still in its early years, and legal apps were rare. Into that new marketplace, ACS4Law released Courtroom Objections as a professional, practical courtroom reference designed for speed, clarity, and real-world use.
June 2010 — Original Release
Version 1.0
Courtroom Objections launched as a clean, single-purpose reference guide covering the core objections every trial attorney should know, including hearsay, relevance, foundation, leading questions, speculation, and more.
Each objection entry included:
• A plain-English explanation
• The legal basis for the objection
• A suggested courtroom phrase
• Guidance on how opposing counsel may respond
The app quickly became valued for doing exactly what it promised: providing a fast, portable, always-available courtroom reference — with no Wi-Fi required.
April 2014 — State Rules Enter the Platform
Version 5.0
Version 5.0 marked the first major expansion of the app’s legal content. Georgia became the first state-specific evidence rule set added to the platform, joined by comprehensive updates to the Federal Rules of Evidence and California evidence materials.
This update also introduced a full visual refresh aligned with iOS 7’s modern design language, including cleaner navigation, larger tap targets, and a more streamlined reading experience built for quick courtroom lookups.
September 2019 — A Multi-State Evidence Rules Platform Emerges
Version 6.0
Version 6.0 represented one of the most significant content expansions in the app’s history. Five additional state rule sets were added: Arizona, Indiana, Massachusetts, Utah, and Wisconsin.
The update also included revised materials for California, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, along with a redesigned interface built around a true multi-state structure. Attorneys could now move directly to their jurisdiction’s rules from a cleaner and more organized main menu.
This release marked the app’s transition from a courtroom objections reference into a broader multi-state evidence rules platform.
July 2021 — Complete Content and Visual Makeover
Version 7.0
Version 7.0 was a ground-up modernization of both the app’s content library and user interface.
Every objection entry, evidence rule, and state file was reviewed, revised, reformatted, and brought into a more consistent professional structure. Alabama was added to the state library, navigation was rebuilt, and overall performance was improved.
This update strengthened the app’s role as a dependable courtroom and trial-preparation resource.
August 2021 — Rapid Follow-Up and User-Driven Refinements
Version 7.1
Only eighteen days after the release of Version 7.0, the app received a rapid follow-up update.
Connecticut and Washington were added to the state library, along with corrections and refinements based on user feedback. This update reflected a development approach that has continued to define the app: release meaningful improvements, listen to users, and follow up quickly.
November 2023 — Search Comes to the Federal Rules of Evidence
Version 8.0
Version 8.0 introduced one of the most requested features from users: word and phrase search across the Federal Rules of Evidence.
The update also added four more state rule sets: Alaska, Arkansas, Kansas, and North Carolina.
With this release, the app expanded to cover 25 state rule sets:
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.
Version 8.0 made the app faster, more searchable, and more useful for attorneys preparing for hearings, trials, and evidentiary issues across multiple jurisdictions.
June 2026 — The Trial Companion Update
Version 9.0 — Current Version
Version 9.0 is the most significant evolution in how attorneys interact with Courtroom Objections since the original release.
Earlier versions focused on expanding the app’s legal content. Version 9.0 transforms how attorneys work with that content by adding practical tools for courtroom use, trial preparation, and personalized reference.
